Havana, Viñales and Trinidad, Cuba

Cuba Cultural Photo Tour – A people-to-people experience.

UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO RECENT CHANGES TO THE CUBA TRAVEL POLICIES BY PRESIDENT TRUMP, THIS TOUR IS NO LONGER VIABLE. WE HOPE YOU WILL VOICE YOUR CONCERNS TO THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION ABOUT THEIR CUBA POLICY. THE ITINERARY WILL REMAIN ON THIS SITE WITH THE HOPE THAT WE WILL SOMEDAY BE ABLE TO TAKE YOU TO THIS AMAZING ISLAND.

Be mesmerized by this exotic Caribbean island during an 11-day/10-night tour through Cuba, featuring magical Havana, Viñales and Trinidad.

When we first visited Cuba we were overwhelmed by the people, the music, the majestic buildings and the decayed buildings. When asked to describe Cuba we came up with this:

“Cuba is like a beautiful woman who has been pushed into a mud puddle. She’s still lovely, but a bit messy, and you can’t help but stare.”

You will fall in love with the warm and friendly people, the unforgettable landscapes, colonial cities frozen in time, and soulful, rhythmic music that is the soundtrack for daily life. Yes, it’s amazing and unique Cuba. We’ve never seen anything like her.

We’ll start with the architectural gems in Habana Vieja, with a walking tour of the plazas, the familiar-looking Capitolio (patterned after the U.S. Capitol), the Gran Teatro de la Habana and the architectural restoration efforts funded by tourism. Then we’ll get a grand view of this amazing city by visiting different neighborhoods by vintage car.

After another morning walking tour where we’ll listen to architects describe their current work, we’ll visit two areas of the country that figured prominently in the foundations of Cuba’s economy. First, we’ll drive west to the unique limestone formations (mogotes) and tobacco farms of Pinar del Rio province and Viñales where the legendary Cuban cigar has its origins. The next day we travel to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Trinidad, stopping for lunch in equally historic Santa Clara, which was built by the fortunes of sugar cane (and rum).

We’ll concentrate on the history and culture of the largest island in the Caribbean, with daily walks and photo tips. When possible, we’ll eat and sleep in casas particulares (Cuban homes that rent rooms and serve meals).
